Jo Gibson

Paralegal

As a Paralegal in the Care Department at Mander Cruickshank Solicitors, I specialise in a wide range of public law children matters. My work involves supporting families from the earliest stages of Local Authority involvement, including attending pre-proceedings meetings and Child Protection Conferences, through to assisting solicitors with complex Care Proceedings. I also assist in representing children through their appointed CAFCASS Guardians in disputes between parents, ensuring their welfare remains at the heart of every case.

I completed my Law Degree in 2002 and have worked exclusively in the areas of care and family law since 2003. Prior to joining Mander Cruickshank in 2016, I spent 12 years working for the Local Authority, dealing directly with child protection cases. This experience gave me a strong working knowledge of the legal and procedural frameworks within children’s services, which I now draw upon in private practice to support clients and legal professionals alike.

In addition to my work supporting the Care Department, I am now also involved in supporting the firm with our Legal Aid work, assisting with the preparation and submission of claims to the Legal Aid Agency. My attention to detail and understanding of processes ensures that files submitted are accurate, compliant, and efficiently managed to support the smooth operation of the department.

With over 20 years of experience in this sensitive and often challenging area of law, I bring a compassionate, measured, and client-focused approach to my work. I understand how emotionally difficult care proceedings can be and always strive to deal with matters with the empathy, professionalism, and discretion they require. I am committed to helping clients feel supported and informed throughout every stage of their legal journey.
