Criminal Defence Paralegal Apprenticeship

Apply for our two-year Paralegal Apprenticeship, and you could be one of our partners of the future! Our two-year Paralegal Apprenticeship is a programme of blended learning and hands-on legal work for ambitious school/college leavers seeking a career in the law.

This apprenticeship is aimed at bright candidates who have completed their A-Levels but would prefer a more practical route to gaining the qualifications and skills to becoming a solicitor.

As a Paralegal Apprentice, you will join our Criminal Defence Department working alongside market recognised experts whilst studying key foundational principles of law and practising skills such as legal research and drafting. Whilst the main work type will be Criminal Defence you will also have the opportunity to choose to study other modules of law that we practice.

We use BPP as our nominated training provider and you will end the course gaining a Certificate of Higher Education (Law and Legal Practice) awarded by BPP University. The areas of law that you will study include the following:

  • English Legal System
  • Legal Research
  • Client Care
  • Professional Practice Skills

Together with a choice of:

  • Two areas of law (Contract Law, plus either Tort or Land Law)
  • One area of legal practice (Dispute Resolution, Commercial Practice, Property Practice or Childcare)

It is expected that you will learn and develop the following skills:

  • Communication
  • Legal Research
  • Legal Writing and Drafting
  • Time Management
  • Data and File Management
  • Teamwork
  • Managing Pressure
  • Attention to Detail

Towards the end of your Paralegal Apprenticeship, we’ll talk to you about what’s next – you may go on to do a five-year Solicitor Apprenticeship programme or start a permanent role as a fully qualified Paralegal.

The minimum entry requirements
