Coalville legal giant joins cutting edge law revolution
Coalville’s best-known law firm has announced a change to its management structure designed to help customers and continue the practice’s growth
QualitySolicitors Mander Cruickshank have joined a minority of firms across the country in becoming what is known as an Alternative Business Structure, announced partner Jim Abbott.
The change at the top means non-lawyers are allowed to have an ownership type interest in the firm, whereas in the past most legal practices have been ran purely by lawyers.
Mr Abbott said the move was one which made sense to the practice, which has been in Coalville since 1923, and also has a branch in Hinckley.
“The legal market place has changed in recent years, with practices allowed to make this change, and we believe having the input of those other than legally trained people in our management can only be of benefit to our customers and staff,” he said.
“Our focus has always been on our customers, and we will maintain the values we have always held dear, so that QualitySolicitors Mander Cruickshank continue to be the trusted law experts in this region,” he added.
The firm’s move has received further vindication in a new report showing alternative business structures are more productive than traditional firms.
The report by the Legal Services Board, which oversees law firms in England and Wales, found they were more productive, efficient at dealing with complaints, and in embracing technology than traditional lawyer led firms.
Mr Abbott said the decision to become an Alternative Business Structure will add to the business’s progressive approach.
